Babe Ruth Leagies Inc. New Baseball Bat Rules For 2018
The following information was provided by Henry Sermons, Southeastern Regional Commissioner. I know that you all are in the process of holding your district meeting so I am sending this now in hopes it can be disseminated to your leagues quickly. I am sending you all the info I have at this time. I will keep you informed if additional information is received plu this will be a topic of discussion at our state meeting on October 28.
All bats must be marked with the USAbat mark. "T-Ball" bats currently owned, or purchased now without this mark, can be used, but only when the USAbat mark sticker is purchased (available throughUSAbat.com) The sticker also states "ONLY FOR USE WITH APPROVED TEEBALLS." (T-Ball bats manufactured for sale after Septemebr 1, 2017 have USAbat mark applied at the factory; companies are allowed to sell out their old t-ball inventory, hence, the sticker program.
Cal Ripken Minor and Major Leagues
Only wood bats, or aluminum bats marked with the USAbat mark, with a barrel diameter up to 2-5/8" are allowed: BBCOR bats are NOT allowed.
Babe Ruth 13-15 Baseball Division
Only wood bats, or aluminum bats marked with the USAbat mark and composite bats marked BBCOR .50 mark, and with a barrel diameter of 2-5/8", are allowed.
Babe Ruth 16-18 Baseball Division
Only wood bats, or aluminum bats marked with the USAbat mark and composite bats marked BBCOR .50 mark, and with a barrel diameter of 2-5/8", are allowed, but cannot exceed a drop -3 (-3) ratio.
Other than the USABAT mark on aluminum bats, the Babe Ruth Divisions have not really changed.
Babe Ruth Softball Divisions
There are no changes in the bat specifications for softball. However, the bats must be labeled as "Official Softball Bat" or "Official Fastpitch Bat".
Scoresheets: 2-4 CoEd TeeBall Scoresheet | Ages 5-12 BB/SB Scoresheet
Download the appropriate scoresheet to your computer (SAVE AS) - then open, fill out, and email as attachment.
Scoresheets must be emailed to Mickey Davis at firstname.lastname@example.org the next day after your game by 12:00pm. All player's first and last names are to be listed as well as their stats. We will run all names in the paper if they have a hit, an outstanding defensive play, a strong pitching performance, double, triple, or homerun.
Stats will be kept for homeruns, triples, doubles, batting averages, pitching wins-loses, pitching strikeouts, and RBIs.
Any scoresheet not listing first and last names of both teams will not be accepted. It is the responsibility of the winning team in all age divisions except 2-4 Co-ed Instructional Tee-Ball to send in the complete information. This is critical to keeping up with wins and loses (records) plus giving each player his/her reward for participating. In the 2-4 Co-ed Instructional Age Division, the home team is responsible for emailing in the scoreheet with all information.
